Tom Harrison
CEO - Six Nations
Tom Harrison
CEO
Tom’s professional career charts his journey from playing professional sport, through to leadership roles within globally respected organisations operating at the highest levels of the sports industry.
Most recently, Tom was appointed CEO of Six Nations Rugby, joining the business in 2023 following almost eight years (2015-2022) as the CEO of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), overseeing a transformational period in charge of English cricket.
Since joining Six Nations, Tom has been the architect of a new strategy to maximise the value of the commercial rights Six Nations Rugby owns. This has led to record breaking new broadcast partnerships for international rugby in the UK and France. Tom has also overseen major new commercial partnerships with global brands that include Guinness, CapGemini, Breitling and IHG Hotels & Resorts, cementing their involvement in international rugby.
Tom started his journey in sport, as a professional cricketer, representing Northamptonshire and Derbyshire at first class level in England (1993-1997). Post his playing days, Tom’s career shifted towards the business of sport, working his way up to senior roles at IMG and ESPN, with spells living in Australia, Asia and the UK, with a specific focus on global media rights.
In 2015, Tom was appointed CEO of the ECB. During his time he oversaw huge success across international formats on the field, including two ICC World Cups and Ashes success. Off the field, he spearheaded transformational commercial performance where participation grew and revenues trebled, underpinned by media rights partnerships but also including the return of free-to-air coverage of cricket in the UK after a 20-year absence.
Tom also navigated the ECB through COVID-19, and the existential threats to the game that the pandemic posed, including the critical decision to tour Australia for the Ashes in 2020/21. Tom was also responsible for the creation and successful integration of The Hundred, a new and innovative competition that has brought a new generation of cricket fans into the sport and has generated over a billion pounds of new investment into the game in the UK.
As one of the most experienced and respected leaders in the sport industry, Tom has been at the heart of defining moments within sport, and the architect of some its most significant commercial evolutions. As a proponent of positive change, Tom has a real passion for the power of sport to serve as a powerful force for good and positive social impact.
