David Lyons enjoyed a distinguished international career, earning 44 caps for the Wallabies. A powerful number eight, he played a central role in Australia’s run to the 2003 Rugby World Cup final, starting every match of the tournament. His standing among Australia’s leading players was recognised in 2004 when he won the John Eales Medal as the Wallabies’ player of the year.

David began his professional career with the NSW Waratahs, establishing himself as a mainstay of the side before taking his career overseas. He made a successful transition to European rugby with the Scarlets in Wales, where he captained the club and brought his international experience and leadership to the team. He then continued his overseas career with Stade Français, competing in France’s demanding Top 14 competition.

Today, David continues to contribute to the game as President of Sydney University Football Club.

Since retiring david has established a successful business career and is a Partner of corporate advisor OBH Partners and a Director investment management firm Australian Agricultural Growth Partners.
