Dr Mike Turner is a British-Australian pollster and political strategist who has been a senior advisor on several pivotal election campaigns in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

He has a reputation for producing best in class research insights, and has been a leading pollster on election campaigns for over a decade.

Michael is unique, in that he has experience working with political parties across the political spectrum.

He was chief pollster for the Liberal Party of Australia for several years, including at the 2019 and 2022 Federal Election campaigns. Before that, when he was Head of Polling at BMG Research, he was chief pollster for the UK Labour Party. This includes the 2017 UK General Election, which was one of the most successful campaigns in British electoral history, with a more than 20pt swing towards the Labour Party over the course of the campaign. Michael has also conducted research for the National Party of Australia, the UK Liberal Democrats, the UK Independence Party, the National Party in New Zealand, and several other political parties and candidates for elections across the world.

Michael co-founded the consultancy, Freshwater Strategy, with Jonathon Flegg, and Nicholas Nogarotto, in July 2022.

Michael also co-founded the AI-powered polling and consumer insights platform, PollStream with Zishan Sajan, in January 2025.

Michael is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, in London, UK. He is also a Fellow at the Adam Smith Institute, where he has co-authored several papers on key areas of public policy.

Michael holds a PhD in Political Science from The Elections Centre, at the University of Plymouth, UK. His doctoral thesis focused on elections and campaigns, identifying and measuring the advantage of incumbency.

James Campbell is national weekend political editor for Saturday and Sunday News Corporation newspapers and websites across Australia, including the Saturday and Sunday Herald Sun, the Saturday and Sunday Telegraph and the Saturday Courier Mail and Sunday Mail.

He has previously been investigations editor, state politics editor and opinion editor of the Herald Sun and Sunday Herald Sun. Since starting on the Sunday Herald Sun in 2008 Campbell has twice been awarded the Grant Hattam Quill Award for investigative journalism by the Melbourne Press Club and in 2013 won the Walkley Award for Scoop of the Year.

Stephen Conroy is a former Labor Party Senator, serving as Leader of the Government in the Senate, Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy and Shadow Minister for Defence during his 20-year political career (1996-2016). He was also renowned for his active participation in Senate Estimate Committees and contribution to many Senate Inquiries into financial services regulation and taxation policy.

Stephen’s many achievements include: establishing Australia’s National Broadband Network; overseeing the transition of all television broadcasts in Australia to digital and establishing Australia’s National Digital Economy Strategy.

Stephen is a Council Member of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute and a Political Contributor to Sky News Australia where he appears regularly as a commentator on a wide range of the network’s political and news programs.

In 2012 Stephen was named International Visionary of the Year by the Intelligent Community Forum in New York. Stephen is also Senior Fellow at the Center for the Digital Future, University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communications and Journalism.
