Philip Davies, Chief Executive of Infrastructure Australia

'Funding the infrastructure Western Australia needs'

Infrastructure Australia Chief Executive Philip Davies will discuss the key infrastructure challenges and opportunities facing Western Australia over the next 15 years, including the investments identified in the recently revised Infrastructure Priority List.  His presentation will outline why we must diversify the pool of funding available for infrastructure investment in Western Australia and highlight the benefits of transitioning towards a user or beneficiary pays model. Providing Infrastructure Australia’s perspective on some of the newer funding models being explored by Australian governments such as road user charging, public transport franchising and value capture, he will explain why the business community has a critical role to play in driving infrastructure reform.

Philip Davies is an infrastructure executive with over 25 years of experience shaping policy, delivering nationally significant infrastructure projects, and leading reform within the infrastructure sector.   As Chief Executive he has a mandate to provide independent expert advice to all levels of government on infrastructure policy and planning.   Infrastructure Australia publicly advocates for reforms on key issues including means of funding, financing, delivering and operating infrastructure and how to better plan and utilise infrastructure networks.
