Karthik Iyer Head of Asset Management, Capital Markets & Green Finance at UK Department for International Trade (DIT)
Karthik Iyer will detail how the UK government is preparing for Brexit, including its recruitment initiatives within the newly established Department for International Trade. Iyer will also speak on the activities of the wide range of asset managers and banks in London, including their management of UK and Australian funds. Given Australia’s substantial investment in the UK, Iyer will discuss how the UK government can support Australian stakeholders as the UK leaves EU structures.

Having recently joined DIT from the private sector, Iyer works across government and industry to make the UK the front-runner for asset management and capital markets, and to enhance its leading status as the centre for financial services in Europe and globally. Since 2013, Karthik has worked closely with HM Treasury, under the direction of the Financial Services Trade & Investment Board (FSTIB) and is part of the Investment Management Steering Group alongside HM Treasury, The Investment Association, TheCityUK, AIMA and DIT.
Prior to DIT, Karthik has held numerous senior roles in asset management in the private sector with the likes of First State Investments, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, and Capita Asset Services, to name a few, in regions as diverse as Australia, India and Europe.
