International Women's Day Breakfast (Sydney)

The ABCC International Women’s Day Breakfast Panel in 2017 is focussing on STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics.   Join us as the panellists discuss their areas of expertise and outline opportunities for the scientists, innovators and business women of the future.

One part of the Turnbull Government's ‘ideas boom’ innovation package that has gone largely overlooked is the fact it may help boost the number of women working in the traditionally blokey fields of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), and may even help shrink the gender pay gap.   As part of its $1 billion innovation program,  the Government plans to invest $13 million over five years to encourage women to choose and stay in STEM fields, start-ups and entrepreneurial businesses. This is good news for successful Australian women already working in STEM-related areas, the innovators and entrepreneurs.

Panellists include:

  • Prof Michelle Simmons – Scientia Professor of Quantum Physics in the Faculty of Science, University of NSW
  • Dr Lisa Harvey-Smith - Head of Science Operations at CSIRO's Australia Telescope National Facility
  • Daniel Petre - Partner, AirTree Ventures
  • Moderator:  Dr Branwen Morgan – Science Journalist & Communications Consultant
