The Hon Peter Beattie AC, Chairman, Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games

The Gold Coast Commonwealth Games – on schedule and on budget

With seventy nations and territories converging on the Gold Coast next April, the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) will be the largest sporting event Australia will hold this decade.  As the first regional Australian city to hold the Commonwealth Games, the Gold Coast will not only leave great sporting memories for its many visitors but will also provide a unique platform to bolster Australia’s trade, investment and tourism links globally.

As Chairman of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Mr Beattie will detail the ambitious plans for  the eleven day sporting and cultural event and discuss what he sees as their potential legacy to the country.

Previously, Mr Beattie served as the 36th Premier of Queensland and Queensland’s Trade Commissioner to North and South America based in Los Angeles from 2008 to 2010. He is Director of the Medical Research Commercialisation Fund, Ambassador for Life Sciences Queensland, joint adjunct professor at the University of Queensland’s Australia Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology Institute for Molecular Bioscience, and a national media commentator.

This Boardroom lunch is by invitation only.
