Robert Walters: We Can Still Sponsor All Occupations
Robert Walters has been granted an On-hire Labour Agreement by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) that permits us to sponsor overseas skilled workers on the Subclass 457 visa and on-hire them to Australian organisations.
Our Labour Agreement has not been impacted by any of the recently announced changes to the 457 visa program.
The Robert Walters’ On-hire Labour Agreement permits us to sponsor skilled overseas workers in a number of specific occupations within the following business areas: accounting, human resources, information technology, marketing, administration, financial advisory, engineering and management consulting.

This visa can be valid for up to four years (with the possibility of renewal) and under this arrangement Robert Walters engages the overseas skilled worker as a contractor and is responsible for all payroll, monitoring and compliance requirements.
Under our Labour Agreement we are currently experiencing a turn-around time of one to two weeks from lodgement. This is in stark contrast to the advertised processing times of other organisations which can be up to 6 months.
Some occupations have recently been removed from the DIBP’s lists and can no longer be sponsored by employers directly.
However, Robert Walters is still able to sponsor the following occupations:
- Public Relations Manager
- Financial Institution Branch Manager
- Human Resource Adviser
- Workplace Relations Adviser
- Liaison Officer
- Market Research Analyst
- Sales Representative (industrial products)
- Sales Representative (medical and pharmaceutical products)
- Multimedia Designer
- Web Developer
- ICT Support & Test Engineers
- Construction Estimator
- Retail Buyer
With more and more organisations opting not to sponsor temporary workers directly on Subclass 457 visas, and the time frames for doing so increasing all the time, this may be the solution you are looking for.
