Informed Solutions is the sole Australian winner at ‘Tech Olympics’

Informed Solutions is celebrating being the sole Australian and UK winners at this week’s World IT Congress in Hyderabad, India.

The Anglo-Australian provider of digital transformation services collected an award for Emerging Digital Solutions at the Global IT Excellence Awards, World IT Congress in Hyderabad, India from 19-21 February.

Informed Solutions has offices in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne and is well known for its pioneering approach to building secure digital platforms that are increasingly used by government to make services more accessible, efficient and secure, as well as to provide a user experience that is personal and responsive.  Among their achievements is the creation of a pioneering sharing and enabling environmental data portal, developed with and for the communities of NSW, as a central place for everyone to find data about the environment.

The Australian team has also contributed more broadly to the success of a number of UK Government projects that enabled Informed Solutions to win this Global IT Excellence award.  These included the Informed (Australia) team providing cyber security, resilience and performance assurance for the digital democracy solution developed for the Electoral Boundary Commission, which saw a significant increase and broader social diversity in citizen participation in the electoral boundary review.   The Australian team also contributed to the success of the Ministry of Justice, Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority’s claims portal, making it easier and less stressful for innocent victims of violent crime and terrorism to be supported and receive compensation.

Billed as the ‘Olympics of Tech’, the awards are organised by the World Information Technology & Services Alliance, which is a leading consortium of ICT industry association members from over 80 countries around the world.

Previous winners include UK-based Internet Watch Foundation for its international work to make the Internet a safer place and the US social impact platform Raiserve.

Commenting on being recognised at this year’s global technology awards, Informed Solutions’ Global Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Vega said it was an amazing honour.

“We’re extremely proud to see our achievements and the innovation emerging from the UK and Australia recognised on a global scale,” she said. “Our aim is to create more personalised, responsive services and this award recognises that we have to better serve people through technology, not displace them.  Technology can and should be a force for good – and it has the power to both deliver more ‘human-centred’ public services and create a dynamic, sustainable economy.  It’s always pleasing to win plaudits for innovation – but more so when it’s a force for good; in our communities, within the ICT and Digital marketplace, and for our country’s economy.”

Rob Fitzpatrick, CEO of the Australian Information Industry Association, added that it was great to see Australian-grown digital innovation being recognised on the world stage.

“This award is richly deserved and fully reflects the hard work, dedication and innovation that’s behind Informed Solutions’ success.  Their digital transformation and innovation methods are very impressive and it’s great to see their work with the New South Wales Government, making environmental data more readily available, contribute to this global ICT excellence award.  We have some fantastic digital success stories in Australia – many emerging through AIIA’s iAwards program – and numerous companies are making their mark globally.”

David McCredie, CEO of the Australian British Chamber of Commerce, added:

"I would like to offer my congratulations on what is a fantastic achievement and it's great to see one of our newest members getting recognition on the global stage.  Australia is becoming a more significant player in the global IT industry and companies like Informed Solutions will help increase our reputation and influence overseas."

Julian David, the CEO at techUK, also added his congratulations.

“TechUK is delighted to congratulate Informed Solutions on its Global ICT Excellence award.  Their work on improving the delivery of public services to all citizens is a tremendously important area of digital transformation as budgets are squeezed and demands increase.  This is an example of digital technology being a force for good, allowing people to access complex public services more easily and generating measurable improvements in welfare, social and economic outcomes.”
