Case Study: Chamber Member Collaboration
In the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, Australian British Chamber of Commerce Member BSI Group, the world's first Standards Body and founding member of ISO, faced office space issues in Sydney. They had an uncooperative landlord, fast approaching lease expiry, full makegood and an uncertain market to contend with. Through the Chamber’s network, BSI Group met Tenant CS, a commercial tenant advisory company that acts exclusively for office, industrial and warehouse tenants and has offices in in Sydney, Melbourne and Singapore. Paul, can you explain how Tenant CS helped you?
“We engaged Tenant CS in the height of Covid-19 last year to help us navigate our unique property requirements. A space and needs analysis showed that we needed a smaller, but better laid out office space which is more conducive to the way we work today. Tenant CS in the space of few weeks were able negotiate and secure our preferred property of choice in Macquarie Park. Resulting in relocating to a premium fitted space with better than market commercial terms at a lower cost compared to renewal. Additionally, our new office has an improved environmental footprint and energy rating of 4.5 Star NABERS rating (National Australian Built Environment Rating System) compared to 3 stars in the previous office. Tenant CS’ transparent and proactive approach made what is typically a difficult period for any business an easy one to overcome.”
Maxwell, how was your experience working with BSI Group?
"It was extremely satisfying. Just like now the outlook for commercial real estate was very uncertain. We adopted a law-of-the-jungle negotiation strategy and succeeded to secure unprecedented savings for BSI Group. Since, we also completed another project for BSI in Melbourne.
