Austrade appoints new General Manager Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa.
David Landers has assumed a new and expanded role as General Manager Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa.
In this role he has operational responsibility for Austrade’s in-market teams across forty five posts in thirty five markets, through which over 230 hundred staff across these regions implement market strategies to assist Australian exporters and educational institutions and attract productive foreign direct investment. Previously David was Austrade’s General Manager for Growth and Emerging Markets covering: China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia.
David’s career spans a number of markets, with significant experience operating and living in China, Indonesia and India. Prior to Austrade he held senior roles (CEO, COO, CSO, CFO, M&A) in venture capital (Allen & Buckeridge), start-up management (Asia Foods), multi-national corporate (PepsiCo) and consulting (Booz Allen & Hamilton). He has deep experience across a range of industries, most notably food and beverage, financial services and technology (energy, water, materials and ICT). In addition to his executive experience, David is a seasoned board director having made key contributions on strategic, commercial, governance, risk management, compensation and audit thinking across 18 Australian and US companies. He is an experienced institutional fund fiduciary.
David has an MBA in International Business from the New York University Stern School of Management and is an honours graduate of the International Management Program at the Stockholm School of Economics. He received his Bachelor of Science degree with distinction from the School of Entrepreneurial Management, Babson College. He has been a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (FAICD) since 2003.
