Integrity Shines in New Patricia Release

Brown Brothers has further cemented the integrity and reputation of its renowned Patricia range by choosing to release just one wine under the label this year.

The Gold medal (Royal Queensland Wine Show) winning 2004 Patricia Shiraz will fly the flag alone this year after the other wines earmarked for release in 2008 fell just short of the uncompromising criteria the family-owned company sets for the Patricia name.

“While many wine companies would see this as commercial suicide, we see it as an opportunity to demonstrate how strongly we believe in the Patricia brand and what it stands for,” said Ross Brown, Brown Brothers CEO.

“Every wine released under the Patricia label must be an example of the very best we can do in a particular style and if we feel it doesn’t come up to scratch we won’t release it.”

“It was an extremely difficult decision to make but it is vital that wine lovers throughout the world have the confidence to buy a Patricia wine and know that, when it is opened, it will be amongst the very best of its kind,” he added.

With such strict criteria, it is no surprise that the 2004 Patricia Shiraz is outstanding. With fruit sourced from three first class Victorian vineyards (including Brown Brothers’ own Heathcote Vineyard) the wine offers the classic shiraz aromas of berries, spice and well integrated oak.

The palate has concentrated fruit, great length and a fine grained tannin finish, making it an ideal match with lamb, scented with fresh garlic and rosemary or grilled veal chop with potato & spring onion rosti.

This respected range of wines was first launched in 2003 as a tribute to Brown Brothers’ much loved matriarch, Patricia who passed away in 2004. The range is a dedication to her for the love and commitment she gave her family and business for over 60 years.

Brown Brothers Patricia Shiraz 2004 is available in good bottle shops and restaurants around the country. RRP $54.
